Words from the Director

recycleGoing Green and Getting Ready for eBilling

The University of Hartford is beginning a transition to an electronic billing system.  The goal is to eliminate all paper billing for University classes (including Community Division programs) by early 2009.  In the coming weeks, I will be sending you information on what to expect and how to use the new system.

We know that all students and parents will receive their bills by email and be able view their accounts online.  You will also be able to make secure, online payments using an e-check (ACH transfer), debit card, or credit card.  The University is encouraging the e-check as the preferred means of payment.  Credit card payments will be assessed a 2.75% convenience fee.

Most importantly, every Community Division family will need to identify a primary email address, to which all bills from the University will be directed.  We will soon be requesting you to establish a primary email address and will keep you well informed about all electronic billing matters.

whole foods logo   Whole Foods Market 5% Day a Success

The University of Hartford will receive a donation of approximately $4,500 from Whole Foods Market in West Hartford Center for the Fund for Access, the tuition assistance program of The Hartt School Community Division.  Walter Harrison, President of the University of Hartford, will officially accept a check from Whole Foods Market on Friday, November 14th.

The donation comes from one of Whole Food’s “Community Giving Days,” during which 5 percent of a store’s net sales are donated to a local non-profit or educational organization. This latest Community Giving Day on Sept. 17 was part of an ongoing collaboration between the Community Division and Whole Foods Market that has included regular performances by Community Division students at the store.

“Whole Foods Market at West Hartford Center is passionate about supporting local causes that are important to its shoppers and neighbors,” said Cynthia Bartos, a representative of Whole Foods Market.  “The Fund for Access is a perfect example of that.”
