The Performers Certificate Program

The Performer's Certificate Program is a two-year comprehensive music program for the most talented high school instrumentalists and vocalists. It is designed to prepare students for musical studies in college. The program provides students with the opportunity to work with many of the finest faculty at The Hartt School and to meet other talented young musicians.

Eligibility:
This program is open to any tenth and eleventh grade student who meets the requirements for acceptance. Students who are nominated for the school's honors programs are automatically eligible along with department chair approval; all others must successfully pass an audition to participate.

There is no charge for those who take private lesson s with us and are accepted into the program. Only normal tuition charges for private lessons and chamber music will be incurred. Those who do not study privately with us pay an annual tuition rate.

Class Meetings and Course Work
The program meets Mondays 3:30-5:30 p.m. for 14 weeks each semester, and includes classes on: music theory, music history, and performance. Masterclasses, guest speakers, and special seminars are also offered throughout the year.

In addition to regular attendance, students must meet several requirements to complete the program, including a final solo recital.
